How can the mo-BAT help your company?
Construction site water has a high content of mineral fines and a pH value in the range of 11 – 13, which corresponds to the value of caustic soda.
Discharging it into the sewer system or into bodies of water is therefore strictly prohibited. It would cause significant damage to sewers or the environment.
Environmental organizations are increasingly addressing this issue and checking a wide variety of construction sites to see whether, for example, water protection facilities are in place. Violations of these requirements lead to high fines and strict conditions for future projects.
Appropriate drainage containers or sedimentation basins become necessary. In Switzerland, these facilities are often called water pollution control facilities.
How do sedimentation basins work?
Settling basins for construction site wastewater are usually steel tanks or steel containers with partition walls of different heights. The construction site water is fed into the containers and sedimentation causes the fine particles contained in the construction site water to settle.
Once sedimentation is complete, the water is discharged from the sedimentation tank through an elevated outlet.
What are the disadvantages of sedimentation basins?
The separation of sediments and water is not normally continuous. The water sits in the sedimentation basin for some time until it can be drained.
Alternatively, sedimentation basins are sized appropriately in size and length so that sediment settles during the slowed flow and the water exits without sediment at the outlet.
Either a lot of time or a lot of space is required.
What is the alternative to sedimentation tanks?

The filtered water can be discharged via two different drains.
This method is space-saving and the separation of sediment and water takes place almost just in time.
What further steps are necessary for the treatment of construction site wastewater?
Depending on the regulations, additional ph neutralization of the construction site water may be necessary. In most cases, the ph value of the water must be below 9. In Switzerland, for example, water with a pH value above 9 may not be discharged. In most cases, the pH value here must even be below 7.
How is the pH value lowered?
This step takes place in the so-called neutralization basin. In the mo-BAT1000+ or mo-BAT3000, the neutralization tank is already provided in the overall tank.
The waste water from the filter big bag enters the neutralization basin area via overflow plates. There, the cleaned water is charged with CO2 and thus its pH value is lowered. The water is pressurized until the desired pH value is reached.
