The density meter is an automatic unit for determining the residual water density in the agitator tank.
This gives you the following advantages:
- Full process control for the best concrete quality
- Compliance with the requirements of DIN EN 1008 for daily density measurement
- Accurate value determination through optical measurement
- Independent system and extremely simple installation
- Simplest maintenance and commissioning
- Complete unit including submersible pump, evaluation unit and display
- Interface for value transmission to the mixing plant
Why is it important to measure density?
- Measuring the density in the agitator tank is a crucial factor in dealing with excess recycled water.
- Only when the density of the recycled water is known can the formula be adjusted accordingly and high-quality concrete guaranteed.
- According to the DIN EN1008 standard, it is even mandatory to measure the density in the recycling tank once a day, because otherwise the water may not be used for concrete production.

How does density measurement work?
- The density meter from AJF is based on the principle of light beam absorption. Light beams are transmitted between two special lenses, with the medium flowing between them. The resulting light beams are measured, thereby determining the density.
- In the overall system, the water from the agitator tank is pumped back into the agitator tank via the density sensor for the density measurement cycle. The evaluation unit displays the determined density value in the agitator tank and can also be transferred as a signal to the mixing plant control system.
- The measurement can be started either manually or automatically. The cycle times between measurements can also be freely adjusted as required.
What should be considered during installation?
To obtain the best measurement result, the positioning of the measuring head is very important. Turbulence in the basin caused by the agitator can distort the measurement result. In addition, deposits can form between the lenses, which also impair the measurement result.
We will be happy to advise you and help you with the installation.
